Antigone A Tragic Hero

The civil disobedience theme and the notion that sometimes it is vital to stand up for what we believe in, even if it means breaking the law, were both discussed in the lecture on Antigone. We talked about Antigone's persona and how her actions posed a threat to the social hierarchies in her society. This got me thinking about how important it is to stand up for my own convictions, even if they conflict with what is legal or socially acceptable. The presentation also addressed the significance of gender in ancient Greek culture and offered insightful historical context. I discovered the limitations imposed on women at the time and how Antigone's deeds were especially radical in light of the prevailing social mores.

Overall, this talk was illuminating and stimulating. It helped me understand how crucial it is to stand up for what I stand for, even if it meant defying the norm. Additionally, it helped me understand the play's historical and cultural background better.
